About Kuari Pass Trek Itinerary

Kuari Pass trek is among the most sightseeing, that you will ever take through the Himalayan Mountains. The Kuari pass is located in the Garhwal region of the state of Uttarakhand. It lies to the south of the Tibetan Plateau, and is within the enchanting Nanda Devi National Park. Kuari pass trek is also known as Lord Curzon's Trail in honor of Lord Curzon who first travelled on it with their friends. He had discovered the trek pathway from Joshimath to Kuari Pass in Garhwal Region. Kuari Pass trek is one of the world famous trekking destinations for offering clear views of highly prominent mountains, such as Nanda Devi, Kamet, Trishul and Dunagiri. The winter season is the best time to undertake the excursion because the snow covered peaks make this place wonderful. The trek to Kuari Pass starts from Dhak, the trail from Dhak heads to Talli forest campsite. This trail lets you go through a beautiful landscape that contains several species of alpine trees and wild flowers.Slowly-slowly the journey passes through the lovely forests of Rhododendron.From Talli the trek to Kuari Pass is a beautiful trail with a mixture of thick forest, streams, varied landscapes and wildlife making it truly surreal. The trek downhill from Kuari Pass leads to Joshimath via Auli.

Things needed during the trekking

Cotton socks, woolen socks, two pair shoes, bag packs, track paint, torch lights, jackets, sunglasses, caps, sunscreens, woolen gloves, walking stick etc.

01Day One: Joshimath.

Today arrive late afternoon at Joshimath and meet our representative for your kuari pass trek here.Joshimath which is approx 250 K.M from Rishikesh is a hub for pilgrim tourists traveling to Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib. Check in to guest house at Joshimath.Overnight stay and dinner in Joshimath.

02Day Two: Joshimath to Dhak Village (via car) and trek to Tali Forest Camp (11,031 ft.) – 8 KMs/7 hours

After having a early ride after breakfast,we head to Dhak Village to start our kuari pass trek. Walk through the trails of villagers up to Tugashi village, which will be your first water source. It’s small little village, where you’ll get a glimpse of the Uttarakhand traditional way of life . Once you start moving further up from Tugashi village, the terrain changes and you’ll find yourself walking in and out a beautiful oak forest. The forest opens up to a clearing or a meadow every now and then. You’ll have your lunch at Gulling around 1pm, rest up here but gear up for the final ascend to the Tali Campsite from here. It’s not a steep ascend, but for the next 4KMs you’ll be walking uphill. Tali campsite is right in the middle of the forest, and you’ll be delighted to be there because you’ll have a team waiting with hot beverages and snacks for you.

03Day Three: Tali Forest Camp to Kuari Pass to Tali Forest Camp. (11,031 ft. to 12,516 ft to 11,031 ft.) – 12 KMs/ 7 hours

Today is going to be the summit day. It’s much easier as compare to the previous day, as you will go up and down hills and snow slopes (in the winter months). The trek today will be a busy day for the photographers because every minute of today’s trek will showcase you the beauty of Himalayas.You will feel like on the top of the world once you reach the top of Kuari Pass. It would take you around 4 hours to reach Kuari Top from Tali forest camp from where we started in the morning.You’ll see peaks like Neelkantha, Nanda Devi, Hathi Ghoda Parvat, Dronagiri, Pangarchulla and Chaukhamba. After spending some quality time on the top, we descend back to Tali by late afternoon.

04Day Four:Tali Forest Camp to Auli. (11,031 ft. to 10,003 ft.). Drive to Joshimath. – 10 KMs / 7 hours

Today after breakfast we start back to joshimath. Today will be a very easy day as just for around 700 meters you will have to trek after that there is up and down slopes.On the way we will see a beautiful mountain lake named as Tali.From here you can have a clear mesmerizing view of Nanda Devi which is the second highest peak in India. After covering a narrow path of around 1.5 km you will reach the Gorson Bugyal which is a big meadow ground covered with snow in winter that “add feathers to ones cap”.Covering 5 km from here we reach Auli a famous ski resort of India from where we board our vehicle to Joshimath.Overnight stay and dinner at joshimath.

05Day Five:Travel Back to your home from Joshimath

Morning after breakfast drive back to your hometown.Trek completes with happy lifelong memories.
